THE HISTORY OF AXE THROWING

Though loggers and lumberjacks had been around since the early 1800s, the actual history of axe throwing as a sport can be traced back to the Loggersports of the 1940s. Loggersports and lumberjack shows grew out of competitions in lumber camps to see who the best lumberjack was, and today these competitions are used more to acknowledge and keep the history and traditions alive.

Today there are commercial axe throwing locations like Axe Games Calgary all around the world as well as opportunities to throw at various festivals and theme parks. There is even a World Axe Throwing League (WATL) and National Axe Throwing Federation (NATF) for those wanting to throw competitively!
